NYFW F/W'16

Posted on Friday, February 19, 2016

Hello!
Wow, did I have the best experience of my life! This past week I helped backstage at New York Fashion Week for Baja East, Jonathan Simkhai, and Libertine. I also attended Ev Bessar's "Firebird" fashion show and DAMNsel's "Garmioplasty" presentation. My friend Hannah brought me to the Zang Toi afterparty and I brought her to the Jonathan Simkhai's afterparty. We had so much fun! Everything that I saw was amazing and honestly magical. My dreams came true and I truly had my Devil Wears Prada moments throughout the week. When I was running around backstage at Jonathan Simkhai I was stunned to see Anna Wintour right in front of me. She then gave me the warmest smile and I nearly died. She is one of my idols! Being backstage gave me the opportunity to appreciate the clothing and see all of the details. The garments were truly works of art. My main job at each of the shows was to dress the models which was really cool and intense. I really felt like I was part of the team. And working amidst the backstage chaos was the most thrilling experience ever! I was able to observe the emotions and details that are put into each show. I am still on an high from NYFW and look forward to each season that I can be a part of!

Enjoy,

The East Village

Posted on Tuesday, February 9, 2016

Hello,
Oh did we find a gem! I've become completely obsessed with St. Marks Place (East Village). On Sunday, my friend Emily and I went out to brunch at Cafe Orlin. It is a cute little spot that has a trendy brunch menu. The food and coffee were great! We ended up walking around the neighborhood and popped into a store or two. If any of you come to NYC soon please check out the East Village; you will love it. As you know I like to play with contrasts with my outfits, so I decided to mix materials. My top is silk, my skirt is textured, my tights are half stripe and half lace, and then we have my shearling boots. Some people find that mixing navy and black is a crime... I completely disagree. If the navy is too dark and clashes with your black then you have a problem. New Feature: I added a video clip of our day at the bottom! Anyways, I hope everyone has a lovely week!

Enjoy,

After The Storm

Posted on Friday, January 29, 2016

Hello,
As many of you may know this past weekend the East Coast was hit with "Storm Jonas". For the most part I locked myself inside all day during the storm. It was absolutely beautiful to watch the snow cover my entire campus. A few of my friends and I thought that we could not miss the opportunity to take some pictures out in the snow, so on Sunday morning that is exactly what we did. I wore the only boots that I found would be "snow-proof" but being the heels that they are I was faced with a challenge of claiming the mounds of snow. I did not end up falling luckily! I have been really into wearing scarfs lately because I feel that they can add so much to an outfit. This Fendi scarf is my mom's which I found over break buried deep in her closet. I love how graphic it is. I am excited to announce that www.chloeakari.com is now its own domain and will be having additional changes coming soon!

In the Desert

Posted on Friday, January 22, 2016

Hello,
While driving past the many miles of desert in Palm Desert, I had a spark of inspiration come over me. The dull muted colors of the terrain gave me a Star Wars vibe. Danielle and I had just bought these matching Allsaints dresses. I found that their grayish-putty color would go perfectly with the desert backdrop. A cool thing about these dresses is that there are many different ways to wear it. You can adjust the lengths and ways of tying the ribbons to get a completely new look. We wore red on our lips to give a contrast to the washed out colors surrounding us. The sunset that we were surprised with was stunning and had beautiful pastel colors. I am missing the warm weather as I write to you back in New York.

Enjoy,
