How would you describe your style?
I don’t think I have one look that describes me, because my outfits definitely reflect my mood. So, depending on the day, my style changes. I’m edgy sometimes and girly another day. There is a range of designers who I admire, many of them are so different from each other. My staples are heels, rings and statement necklaces, and I also like to mismatch my earrings. I dress differently from most people and I think that’s what makes my style unique. I wear whatever I want to wear and what I feel good in. I don’t care what other people will say.

How did you begin your involvement with fashion?
I started my blog with a friend because we were both really interested in fashion. And then, she left and I continued on blogging. I started doing photo shoots with friends, and I had fun photographing and styling them. Then I started going to events as a press agent and got invited to events, so I started blogging about the events. While attending fashion shows I was able to stand in the press pit and take photos of the pieces going down the runway. I am always so excited to see new inspiring work at fashion shows. I love fashion, so I’ll go to anything related to it in the city. The SAIC Walk fashion show is definitely my favorite event. Every year I look forward to attending because it’s amazing and always fresh. The students’ collections are incredible.

How can people stand up for their individuality?
I think you have to put your guard down and not really care what other people think. It is important to do what you want to express yourself. Find your own path and never stick to the norm of today. That way you’re not just blending in to the blob of mainstream style. You are your own person.

My look: Dries Van Noten blouse, Forever21 skirt, Balenciaga handbag, and TopShop platforms.

Neutrals

Hello!
I hope everyone is enjoying summer. I am very excited to show you my new bag! It is such an amazing addition to the collection. It is the best size and is easy to wear because it goes with everything! It is the Balenciaga Classic Velo in Papyrus. This look is a great outfit for going shopping, out to lunch, or walking around. The American Apparel crop top is very comfortable and perfect for summer. I have been wearing it a lot this summer because you can wear it many different ways. Even if it is really hot out my Marni skirt is still a perfect option due to its light weight. I hope you are as excited as I am about my new pieces!
Enjoy,

Chicago Fog

Posted on Tuesday, June 24, 2014

Hello lovelies!
Here in Chicago the weather has been a bit questionable. There have been a few days of fog and rain. This creates a different type of summer mood for me. I chose to use my favorite color theme (darks) for this shoot. My look is more of an everyday outfit. Whereas Danielle's is a bit more interesting. I wanted to make her look youthful while still maintaining an edge. I have been meaning to shoot the sequined top that she is wearing for a while, so I am happy that we did. Location wise there is not much of a story behind the two different places we went to. Out of pure luck I found a green car that matched my top perfectly, so we decided to take some shots in front of it. For Danielle's look I did not want a busy background so the Museum of Contemporary Art's stairs were perfect.
Enjoy,

My look: TopShop Unique top, American Apparel skirt and socks, and TopShop shoes.
Danielle look: Dolce Vita top, Aqua skirt, TopShop bag and heels, Prada keychain, vintage chocker, and Alain Mikli sunglasses.

Summer Beginnings

Posted on Thursday, June 19, 2014

Hello lovelies!
It is the beginning of a wonderful summer! I could not explain to you how happy I am that it's summer! I do apologizes for my lack of posting this year or my few weeks of absence, hopefully there will be less of that in weeks to come. Ariel and I had not been to Millennium Park for quite some time, so we decided to pay it a visit. Luckily the lighting was prime! Millennium Park is such a pretty place especially this little spot where we shot. There are so many plants and flowers but then there is the lovely skyline behind all of the green, which I love. My dress is similar to the contrast between the flowers and the buildings with its print. Summer is the perfect time to do some exploring in Chicago so hopefully there will be some new shoot locations!
Enjoy,

-Chloé Akari

My look: Aqua dress, Office platforms, Balenciaga cuff, Patch NYC skull bracelet, and American Apparel fishnet socks.
Ariel's look: Jenni Kayne heels, and RayBan sunglasses.

Fleurotica 2014

Posted on Saturday, June 14, 2014

Hello lovelies!
On Thursday I attended Fleurotica 2014. The show was absolutely amazing! This year the event was held at the Garfield Park Conservatory, which is such a beautiful place! I had never been to the Garfield Park Conservatory before, but I highly recommend visiting. There were so many different flowers and plants that I had never seen, from places all around the world. The designs this year were so intricate and detailed. I personally love to see unconventional fashion on the runway and I was very impressed by these designers work. I hope you like these designers pieces!
Enjoy,

-Chloé Akari

My outfit: Prada heels, TopShop dress, vintage earrings, and Balenciaga cuff.
